Nautical Area Rugs - Bringing the Sea Into Your Home With Lighthouse and Sailboat Rugs

One of the most popular interior decor themes for homes, or single rooms in homes, is a nautical theme. With nautical decor being sought after, there are fortunately many area rugs around that depict aspects of a mariner's life at sea, the sea itself, or beaches and beach life.

Ships, boats, sailboats and other seagoing vessels are of course an integral part of a mariner's seafaring life. Such vessels are therefore often represented on area rugs aimed at the nautical market.

When selecting rugs with such pictures, it is best to seriously consider how they fit in best with the rest of the room's decor. As with choosing a heavily patterned carpet, rug, upholstery or curtains, when choosing a rug with pictures of marine vessels and lighthouses, care needs to be takened to ensure the rug is displayed to its full potential, and does not become part of an overwhelming cacophony of mixed pictures and patterns in every part of the room.

There are also other subjects which may be depicted that have been an integral part of a true mariner's life at sea.
